Some Ritual Etiquette
Once upon a time, long, long ago, people would gather in groups for social interaction. They had parties, attended performances and sporting events, and some of them, the Pagan ones, held group rituals. Perhaps soon, they will begin doing such things again. In the hope of that happy day, here are some of the many considerations when inviting people to join you for a gathering and ritual. In the invitation, let people know what to expect, especially if there are non-Pagans in your invitation list. You can’t “ambush” people into participating in a ritual–they have to want to be there. So for example, if you’re having a Sabbath feast for…

Yuri’s Triumph
It is 60 years ago today that the era of humanity in space began with the remarkable, courageous orbit of Yuri Gagarin around our beloved planet. OFF WE GO! he said as his rocket, Vostok 1, began the long, roaring climb out of Earth’s gravity well. And nothing has been the same since. Today, we marvel at the Hubble images, the crystal-clear shots of our Solar System’s planets, asteroids, comets, the alien landscapes of Mars and the Moon. We look up to where human feet have walked on our Earth’s own satellite, and listen for the distant peeps of the Voyagers, far beyond the worlds of our Sun. We have…

CANCELED: Midsummer Dawn event
Regrettably, projected spread of the COVID-19 virus indicates that it is simply not safe to plan a group gathering for late June, so I have been forced to cancel Midsummer Dawn 2020. I will refund the registration fees of those who have signed up over the next few days. I’m really sad about this, but public safety takes precedence over fun. Stay safe, everyone.

Midsummer Dawn: A Regional Pagan Event
Midsummer Dawn is a low-tech Pagan gathering for those of us who miss events like Ancient Ways. We’ll do a couple of (non-theist) rituals in the evenings, but mostly focus on socializing and building community. Two nights under the magnificent stars in the exquisite Sugarloaf Ridge State Park in Sonoma County, California! There is a waterfall we can hike to, and simply beautiful land to enjoy. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A SUNDAY AND MONDAY NIGHT. Saturday was not available. This is a camping event, so bring your gear, and plan to cook for yourself. We will have a potluck shared dinner on the first night (Sunday). Grocery shopping is…

Canceled: Moon Meet 2019
Unfortunately, due to lack of registration, I’m going to have to cancel the third Moon Meet gathering, which was scheduled for July. One day, there will be enough motivation, energy and resources in the Atheopagan community for us to have in-person gatherings at other than a very local level. But it’s important to be realistic, and this particular event isn’t thriving. Meanwhile, Atheopagan U. is a GO! We move onward!
