News from Atheopagania
A couple of months ago, I heard from Llewellyn Worldwide, which published my book ROUND WE DANCE: Creating Meaning Through Seasonal Rituals, that they were discontinuing the book and reverting the rights back to me.
Obviously, this means they weren’t making enough money on it, which is disappointing, but I’m actually glad. Now I can republish it myself and can will the rights to the Atheopagan Society when I die.
Unfortunately, I do not have the rights to the cover art, so I have to create a new cover. But my circle sister Candace is a painter, and she gave me a wonderful piece. The result is this:
I am really happy with this cover–more so than the original, and it has more significance to me since the art is by my circle sister.
So now I am going through the process of republishing the book through my own publishing label. Republication date is Halloween!
Now that I have that project ironed out, I am thinking about what else I want to offer in the Atheopagan space. I recently rolled off the Atheopagan Society Council, as I have served three two-year terms and that is our term limit (I have to take at least a year off). So I have some available bandwidth.
Since the ending of THE WONDER, many have said to me that they miss the podcast. I don’t have nearly the available energy and time to do a weekly podcast, but I can do one monthly, so I have conceptualized a new monthly release, Nights at the Ritual Fire. These will be conversations with community members about their perspectives, practices and participation in things Atheopagan.
So I have been putting together the pieces to start that soon–also looking to launch on Halloween! Gotta approach some folks about joining me.
Suntree Retreat was wonderful, btw, as always. Such good people! We had some curveballs this year (like torrential rain and hail when we were supposed to be doing our Saturday night ritual), but managed to move things around. It was lovely to see folks again and to meet newcomers.
It’s a time of transition in my various volunteer efforts for the community, and I’m excited about the new projects!
